Building Trust

Homes enrich communities..
Communities are built on cultures..

MFA has special programs for Native Americans interested in buying, building, or repairing a home on trust land.

A home has a clear and unique meaning to each individual.  What is not always so clear is how to purchase a home.  MFA has programs designed to make purchasing a home on trust land affordable.

Native American families or individuals from federally recognized tribes that have a home site lease.

Borrower and property must fall within MFA qualifying guidelines for income and sales price.

  • Tribe must have a resolution in place to enforce eviction and foreclosure procedures in tribal court;
  • Form of home site lease must be approved by BIA; and
  • Borrower must have a home site lease from tribe.
  • Below market interest rate loans which add up to real savings for borrowers (See Limits for income/sales price);
  • Ability to borrow down payment and closing costs (See Limits for income/sales price);
  • A way to buy, build or make repairs on an existing home on trust land;
  • A guarantee that the land will never be removed from the trust; and
  • A way to finance mobile homes on permanent foundations.
