Production Highlights
Last year, MFA provided almost $240 million in low-interest financing, grants, and non-financial support for affordable housing and related services throughout New Mexico.
Homeownership Programs
- Using tax-exempt single family mortgage bonds, MFA financed 1,009 first-time homebuyer loans in excess of $124 million
- Provided $4 million in down payment assistance loans and grants
- MFA provided $4.6 million in funding for the rehabilitation of 104 owner-occupied homes
- Weatherized 3,667 homes at a cost of $15.8 million
Rental Housing Programs
- MFA provided $51.4 million in financing for the new construction and rehabilitation of 789 affordable rental units
- Processed $24.7 million in rental assistance payments for 5,318 Section 8 apartments occupied by low-income households
Targeted Initiatives
- Purchased and rehabilitated 54 foreclosed homes for a total of $12.5 million; resold 48 of the homes to low-income families
- Rehabilitated 35 homes located in tribal communities and 27 homes located in colonias
- Funded shelter and services for 8,735 individuals experiencing homelessness at a cost of $1.2 million
